In December 2022, principals canceled already scheduled worksite visits and we have been unable to visit any LCPS worksite during school hours ever since. We have been successfully visiting worksites for nearly 60 years without restriction from administration. Principals cited an email banning LEA from worksites. LEA leaders and staff have worked behind the scenes to rectify this since December only to be rebuffed at every opportunity.
These visits ensured your right to speak to your union to discuss any matter of importance to you and share crucial information with them. Since then, we’ve followed the usual working channels to resolve this situation.
You have the right to organize, discuss issues, and raise concerns within your worksites. Your Union should have access as it’s been for the last 60 years. Those rights have been stripped from you and NO ONE in LCPS is willing to restore your rights. What is LCPS afraid of?
These Union visits are important. A major goal of Dr. Spence is to reestablish trust and transparency. Union visits are vital to employee communication with administration since it is the conduit between LEA Leadership, the School Board, and administration. This is how we amplify employee concerns. How does blocking your Union demonstrate positive intent?
It’s time to demand transparency.
You must sign the Petition and have your colleagues sign as well. This collective action will demonstrate that silence is not transparency.
